This spoken and illustrated history is entitled ‘East Belfast and WWII – They Also Served’. There has been much media coverage on the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, June 6th 2024, and more recently the 80th Anniversary of V.E. Day (Victory in Europe) and V.J. Day (Victory in Japan) in 2025 and the end of WWII.

This publication remembers the service and sacrifice of a few people connected to East Belfast, either by virtue of birth, residence or even family ties, and tells their stories. They who served in Northern Ireland during WWII were all volunteers as conscription was not applied here.
